Numbnuts was formed in 2014. I (Justin, founder of Infinity Fine Jewellery) lost just shy of 7 stone over 4 months after tipping the scales as a heavyweight Dad carrying 20 stone.

The hard work had just started and now to keep it off and have a positive impact on others

... bicycles and raising money for charity arose.

Team Numbnuts was formed with local Northampton friends and we set about our first challenge of cycling the iconic route of Lands End to John O Groats. It turned out to be an amazing adventure, but most importantly, we raised over £25,000 for charities, including Cynthia Spencer hospice here in Northampton.

In 2016 we hosted another ride, raising more money by cycling 6 different countries in 6 days. An amazing trip with stories a plenty and the goal reached... one highlight being cycling into Amsterdam at rush hour on a stunning Friday summer evening ... along with what seemed a million other cyclists!

In 2018, Numbnuts teamed up with The Oddballs Foundation, a foundation making people aware of testicular cancer. The team spent a year training to cycle from the gates of Twickenham Stadium, London all the way to the home of one of the World’s most famous football teams, Barcelona, Spain. This achieved in just 8 days. Some days saw the team hit over 150 miles in a single day!

The reward was massive and Numbnuts raised in excess of £30,000 for the charity.

A Numbnuts Golf day was also on the agenda, adding to the yearly, ticket only, party to end all parties held at the Picturedrome in Northampton.

The team have been well supported over the years, with key sponsors and local companies coming in to help financially and watch the pot grow for the charity. The team, naturally, like to have a rewarding meal accompanied with a beer most evenings of the trip, you can’t deny any of the team don’t deserve it. The fact is, we train for this, 12 months+ of training will go into 2021!

We firmly believe if we put the hard work in and we are able to sit on a bicycle for 10 hours a day ... there should also be an enjoyment factor at the end of each day ... this is typical Numbnuts style!

2021 sees Numbnuts take on the mountains. With well over 14,000 metres of climbing within 7 days of cycling from the Formula 1 circuit of Monza in Italy to the stunning picturesque walled city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. This will be quite a challenge and Numbnuts have teamed up with Northampton Saints, raising money for the Saints Foundation, a fantastic charity helping deprived children. These important funds help set up workshops and playrooms to give everyone a chance in early life to help them move in the right direction the older we get.
